We are pleased to announce CFPG’s Member of the Month, Larry Riely!!
Larry is a hard working athlete, who strives to improve in movement. He comes in and does the work, whether he scales a WOD or not, he gives it his all and stays true to form. He is a great addition to the CFPG community! Kudos to Larry! Keep up the good work!
Bio:I am 26 years old. I have worked as a career Firefighter/EMT for the last 3 years, and also a 911 Dispatcher for 6. Most of my “off time” is spent traveling and hiking around New England with my Fiance Emily. I am a big supporter of small business and believe in buying local.
When did you start CrossFit?: September 2015
Why did you start CrossFit?: I decided to try CrossFit as an alternative to a regular gym. Hearing success stories about it’s effectiveness, and the idea of a coordinated hour long class was appealing having a busy schedule. I enjoy the WODs and how they vary daily.
Favorite Lift: Back Squat
Favorite WOD: Three Wise Men Tribute
Least Favorite Lift: Overhead Squat
Least Favorite WOD: Lumberjack 20
What was your first workout, and what did you think after finishing? Boom Chocolatta! I couldn’t believe that my whole body was involved. I knew that I would be sore the next day, but couldn’t wait to come back.
Greatest CrossFit Achievement so far: My greatest achievement has been sticking with it. I haven’t been the type to maintain a particular workout routine or diet, but CrossFit has kept me interested and consistent. It’s great to track workouts and look back to see the progress.
CrossFit Goal for 2016: Improving Double Unders and minimizing rest periods!
Favorite song/music to WOD to:Anything with a good beat. I honestly don’t notice the music after getting into a rhythm but it’s nice to hear something over my breathing!
One interesting thing about yourself not related to CrossFit:
I am a die hard Philadelphia Eagles fan.
Complete the sentence, “CrossFit should….. Inspire you to push harder. I’ve learned that my body is capable of enduring much more than i originally thought. CrossFit exposes your weaknesses and entices you to improve them.
Other comments? I have found CrossFit to be a unique experience. It can be a confidence booster, but also humbling at times. Age has little significance and for that i encourage anyone to try. I have learned a great deal about myself in the short time since starting CrossFit and have tried to apply the positive elements to everyday life.
